Top TV CEO Vino Govender has been thrown out on his ass, allegedly because of his attempts to bring a porn channel to the Top TV bouquet. There are other reasons of course, but "Top TV CEO To Be Axed Over Faltering Content Offerings" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. And, because South African society's repressive conservative leanings mean it's more obsessed with sex than it would have you believe, another round of porn ping pong is taking place in the comments sections of online news sources.
There's nothing new. The usual suspects who claim to be against sex and porn (yet can't shut up about it) are serving up their illogical, uninformed dross, sprinkled with religious justification and topped with a healthy spoonful of self-righteousness. Arguing with the most hard-headed of these people won't do much - the more the flaws in their arguments are highlighted, the harder they cling to them. So I decided to make a game out of their tired beliefs.
Here's my attempt at Sexual Immorality Bingo, which can be used with any discussion of sexuality that pops up in a South African context. It was inspired by the endless objections to porn but can be used for other "controversial" sexual bugbears of the pearl-clutching brigade.
